Refractory Mortar or Refractory Cement and other dome questions.

From the WFO board

Posted by Edwin

I see references to both, refractory mortar and refractory cement. Which is better to use in between the bricks in the dome? How much is needed?

I assume the fireclay:sand mix below the firebricks is used for leveling the bricks?

I have a 10" wet saw here, I assume it would be to my advantage to cut and dry fit as many fire bricks as possible for a much longer life of my oven ?

Thanks for your detailed wood fired oven making website. Cheers!
