Hello Herb,
if you can use your chainsaw mill to cut the aspen tree, cut two pieces each 20 to 22 inches long and 10 to 11 inches wide. Join them together to get a board of 20 to 22 inches square. 1 and a half to 2 inches thick. You will find this size is very practical.
