Blue stone hearth and flat oven cieling

I have quite a few pieces of large bluestone slabes. 4 feet by 3 feet and 3 inches thick. I was thinking of making a bluestone hearth and cieling with brick over the bluestone cieling and under the hearth. Will this work or must the cieling on the oven be a dome to work correctly.
