temp. regulation

Hi Rado,
Did you say you lift your door to provide temp regulation? If so what is the highest you would need to raise it? I am thinking about the door and the 2nd arch outside the entrance arch in the masterly design.
Is one type of wood better than another for the door? What kind of wood do you use?
